Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using ScanMyPantry ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Description of Service

ScanMyPantry is a food inventory management app that uses AI-powered camera scanning to identify food items, track expiry dates, generate recipes, and help reduce food waste. The app is available on iOS.

2. Account & Data

• No account creation is required to use ScanMyPantry
• Your data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced via your personal iCloud account
• You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data
• You can delete all data at any time from Settings → Clear All Food Items

3. Subscriptions

• Free tier: Unlimited scans, up to 10 inventory items, 3 AI recipe generations
• Pantry Pro: Unlimited items, unlimited recipes, meal planning, dietary filters, expiry alerts, household sharing, and shopping list export
• Pantry Pro is available as a monthly ($3.99/month) or annual ($29.99/year) auto-renewing subscription
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
• Your subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
• No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods

4. AI-Generated Content

• Food identification results are AI-generated estimates and may not be 100% accurate
• Always verify expiry dates from the original product packaging — do not rely solely on the app's estimates
• Recipes are AI-generated suggestions and may not account for all allergies, dietary restrictions, or food safety requirements
• Users with food allergies should always verify ingredients independently
• ScanMyPantry is not liable for any health issues arising from reliance on AI-generated food information

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to access other users' data or circumvent security measures
• Use the app to scan, identify, or process illegal substances

6. Intellectual Property

The app, including its design, code, logos, and content, is owned by ScanMyPantry and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.

7. Third-Party Services

The app integrates with third-party services including OpenAI, Instacart, Pexels, and Open Food Facts. Your use of these integrations is subject to their respective terms of service. ScanMyPantry is not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party services.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI IDENTIFICATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SCANMYPANTRY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FOOD SPOILAGE, ALLERGIC REACTIONS, OR DATA LOSS.

10. Apple EULA

Your use of ScanMyPantry is also subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA, Apple's EULA governs. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Auto-Renewal Disclosure

Pantry Pro subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Apple will charge your Apple ID account. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Prices are in USD and may vary by region.

12. Export Controls

You may not use or export the app in violation of Canadian, U.S., or applicable export laws and regulations.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
